[The GIR major admitted its last batch of Year 1 students in September 2018]


Since its inception in 2006, the GIR programme has been providing students with solid interdisciplinary preparation concerning various aspects – from social to economic – of modern international affairs and their governance, so as to ultimately facilitate GIR graduates’ successful pursuit of further studies and international careers in a wide spectrum of sectors, at home and abroad.


The major provides students with the interdisciplinary knowledge and effective analytical skills they need to adapt and succeed in the world of tomorrow, which features public administrations, international organizations, private companies, financial institutions and NGOs constantly striving for growth, opportunities and solutions, both locally and globally.




Students admitted from the academic years 2017-18 and 2018-19 should complete the following 9 Major Required courses (27 units):

Year 1, Semester 1: Foundations of World Geography 世界地理导论

Year 2, Semester 1: Foundations of Political Science 政治学导论  

Year 2, Semester 1: China and the World 中国与世界

Year 2, Semester 2: Introduction to Sustainable Development 可持续发展导论   

Year 3, Semester 1: Introduction to Political Economy 政治经济学导论    

Year 3, Semester 2: Global Routes of Trade and Investment 全球贸易与投资路线

Year 4, Semester 1: Final Year Project (GIR) 毕业论文       


In addition, during Year 3 and Year 4, students shall complete 11 Major Elective courses (33 units), across the following three categories:
